About the Collectors Guild

The Arms and Militaria Collectors Guild of Sunraysia is a sub-club of the Mildura Branch of the S.S.A.A., but with a slight difference to the other sub-clubs, in that we are predominantly a collectors group and not a shooting group.

We were established as a club on December 1, 1994, and boast a membership of approx 50  members.

If asked our broad aims could be described as:

·       To promote and encourage the responsible collection and preservation of military artifacts for future generations

·       To foster and promote public awareness of the importance of preserving our military heritage

·       To assist new collectors in the maintenance and preservation of collections.

We could probably write another series of aims but these three would sum up our philosophy.

How do we achieve these aims? And the answer would be in the following. We meet on the first Wednesday of the month (Venue supplied on request) for a short meeting where reports on latest relevant laws are tabled, Collectors Meetings, Military Auctions and display dates are tabled and discussed.

The highlight of our meetings is our show and tell segment. Here a member presents an item from their collection followed by a question time.

Members promote public awareness with presentations of artefacts from their collections at local schools and service clubs.

Each year at the Mildura Show the club has an extensive display and members also display at sister clubs in Bendigo and Shepparton.

Combining meetings with their show and tell segment, displays and home visits, new and old members are continually on a learning curve, thus developing a holistic approach to collecting.

We welcome new members.
